Streptavidin
Coated Plates

The product provides a protocol for
the screening of biotinylated biomolecules that is
reliable, fast, and has high throughput capabilities.
Streptavidin is a biotin-binding protein found in the
culture broth of the bacterium Streptomyces avidinii.
Direct coating of small molecules, antigens or
antibodies is often accompanied by poor reproducibility
of the assay or weak signals. Streptavidin finds utility
in these systems because antibody molecules are easily
modified by the covalent attachment of derivatives of
biotin with little or no loss in the ability of the
antibody molecules to bind their antigens. These
biotinylated antibodies may be detected by their
interaction with conjugates of streptavidin and the
reporter enzymes. This product may be used with
biotinylated peptides, antigens, antibodies, DNA, and
oligonucleotides for various uses such as immunoassays
and DNA/RNA quantitation
