Description

Introduction:
Leuprorelin, also known as leuprolide, is a manufactured version of a hormone used to treat prostate cancer, breast cancer, endometriosis, uterine fibroids. Leuprorelin is in the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogue family of medications. It works by decreasing gonadotropin and therefore decreasing testosterone and estradiol. Leuprorelin was patented in 1973 and approved for medical use in the United States in 1985. It is on the World Health Organization& List of Essential Medicines. It is sold under the brand name Lupron.

Intended Use:
The KRIBIOLISA Leuprolide / Leuprorelin (Lupron) is used as an analytical tool for quantitative determination of Leuprolide in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatant.

Principle:
The method employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. Anti-Leuprolide antibody is pre-coated onto microwells. Samples and standards are pipetted into microwells Leuprolide present in the sample are bound by the capture antibody. Then, a HRP (horseradish peroxidase) conjugated AntiLeuprolide antibody is pipetted and incubated. After washing microwells in order to remove any non-specific binding, the ready to use substrate solution (TMB) is added to microwells and color develops proportionally to the amount of Leuprolide in the sample. Color development is then stopped by addition of stop solution. Absorbance is measured at 450 nm.
